Stephen Kirwan the Head of the Immigration and International Law team recently spoke to Nuacht TG4 about the Irish Governments response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis. In his brief clip he notes that the quick response from Minister McEntee, the Government and Department of Justice in introducing a visa waiver programme and humanitarian measures is to be welcomed. He also notes however that the inconsistent rollout of the registration process and the fact that the visa waiver at present only applies to Ukrainian citizens and not to family members or long term Ukrainian residents who have also been forcibly displaced needs to be addressed.
