Casestudy: KOD Lyons Child Law Department deliver justice for Riley

I am the mother of a beautiful boy Riley, who is 5 years of age.

“Like many families around Ireland, we found it extremely difficult to get accurate assessments and timely services in the health and education areas.

In February 2019 we instructed KOD Lyons to take legal proceedings against the HSE on Riley’s behalf, and on April 1st we won our case in the High Court. The HSE were ordered to carry out Riley’s assessment within specified timeframes.

Following this we got Riley’s updated cognitive report which allows us finally to have access education and hopefully a service plan.

This would never have been possible without Gareth Noble and Naomi Mulvany in the Child law Department of KOD Lyons Solicitors. I don’t think I will ever be able to say enough thank yous for helping Riley and for being an amazing voice for our kids.

For anyone who is being let down by the system, it is so important to challenge poor decision making processes. It is important that we highlight these issues in a range of different ways and this includes accessing the legal system to bring about real change.

Following our High Court win, Riley and I appeared on the Late Late Show on RTE 1 to highlight some of these issues and to demonstrate what wonderful potential our kids have as long as they have the right support and services.”
