The Ring of Kerry 170KM Charity Cycle 2022. A fantastic weekend had by all involved!

The KOD Lyons team completed the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle 2022 on Saturday 2nd July. Setting off from Killarney at 6am full of energy and enthusiasm, the team cycle through Killorglan and Glenbeigh, arriving at Caherciveen for the first official food stop to refuel with sandwiches, biscuits, bananas and tea! The changable weather went from requiring sun cream to cycling through a monsoon for the first few hours. That did not deter our team from pushing through!

On then through Waterville and the first climb. Coomakista.

The climb was not a bother to the team and then an amazing cycle downhill all the way to Sneem was most enjoyable (Save for the re-emergence of the monsoon). A quick pit stop in O’Sheas for some refreshments and soup to warm up and get ready to push on for the final 60KM.

We arrived in Kenmare at the next official food stop to refuel to tackle the climb of Molls Gap! Although tiredness was setting in, we were not deterred from pushing on for the finish. We reached the top of Molls Gap with sunny skies greeting us, amazing views and a huge sense of achievement!

Thankfully the final push was all downhill to Killarney where we were greeted with applauding locals and pride at a job well done.

We were delighted to have raised money for two very worthwhile charities through our 170KM cycle through the sun, wind and rain!

We would like to thank everyone who has donated to date. If you would still like to make a donation the link is below.
