Katie Dowling, Associate

Katie studied Law (LLB) in John Moore’s University Liverpool. She went on to continue her studies in Queens University’s Institute of Professional Legal Studies.

Katie Dowling completed her training contract with a leading human rights law in the North of Ireland. She assisted partners in some of the jurisdiction’s most high-profile human rights, Crown Court and Court of Appeal cases. Her work on the ‘The Hooded Men’ case was merited in their book ‘The Hooded Men, British Torture in Ireland’.

Katie was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in the north of Ireland in September 2016. Upon qualification, she transferred to another prominent criminal practice, Finucane Toner. She acted for clients from the initial stages of PACE through to the Magistrates Court, Youth Court, Crown Court and Court of Appeal. Katie developed a busy Judicial Review practice and challenged decisions, policies and practices of public authorities including Judicial Reviews against the prison service and PSNI. Katie also deals with Police/Garda and Prison Ombudsman complaints.

Katie has an interest in criminal law, youth justice, human rights law and judicial review. Is Gaeilgeoir í agus ta suim aici i cearta theanga.

Katie joined the firm in June 2019 and her experience has made her a valued solicitor in our Criminal Defence team.
