The Court Service recently outlined CCJ procedure’s ahead of the beginning of the new term, 1st September 2020.

Where defendants are legally represented, they will not be required to attend court for their first remand or summons date. Attendance will be required when a defendant is entering a plea, their matter is listed for hearing or a matter is being sent forward for trial before the Circuit Court.  If a defendant does not have legal representation, they will be required to attend on each appearance date.

Remand Courts (CCJ 1,3&4) will be scheduled as follows:

10.30 – 11.30 New Bail Cases
11.30 – 12.15 New Custody Cases
12.00 – 13.00 New Remands
14.00 – 16.00 Block Remand Matters

Summons Courts (CCJ 8) will assign 20 matters to 30 minute intervals between 10.30 to 14.45. Defendant’s will be notified of their allocated time slot.

Hearing Courts will be assigned specific dates and time slots, the accused and their solicitors will be notified in advance.

Defendant’s are advised to contact their solicitors ahead of their court dates to ensure they are aware of their allocated time slot.
